Is Leipzig on the fast track and currently the most exciting city in Germany?
The population here seems to be growing incessantly, with younger people in particular being drawn to the “boom town of the East.” Here, you can still find affordable housing, alternative spaces, and perhaps even a “better Berlin.”
The film tells the story of Leipzig’s extreme development over the last 35 years. From a broken city that lost around 100,000 residents after the fall of the Berlin Wall, threatened by brown coal mining and mass unemployment
Today, Leipzig is considered a cool city, with lots of green space and a varied lake landscape that emerged from the lunar craters of coal mining. These extreme changes are also the result of many visions that were either successful or failed spectacularly in Leipzig. Whether it was the Olympic bid, construction magnate Schneider, the Red Bull soccer fairy tale, and much more… does Leipzig have a special DNA that drives the city of the Peaceful Revolution to constant change? But also attracts megalomania?
