15 Feb GRAP AT THE ARCHIVE MARKET OF THE BERLINALE 2024

On 20 February 2024, the Archive Market will once again take place at the Berlin International Film Festival. As part of the EFM Industry Sessions, the programme of the European Film Market, the focus on this day will be on archives and archive research. Several GRAP members will give insights into their work in talks.

There will also be an opportunity to ask experienced archive producers questions about their own film projects in speed consultations.

In the talk “International Work Strategies of Archive Producers”, archive producer and GRAP member Stephen Maier will talk to two experienced producers about the workflow of archive material in feature films and documentaries.

In the talk “International Work Strategies of Archive Producers”, Vanessa Christoffers-Trinks, archive producer and founding member of GRAP, will discuss the most important international developments in the industry with French and Canadian colleagues. And take a look into the future: What can we expect in the coming years?

What cinematic possibilities are there when working with archive material? How can it convey social movements, global crises or wars in film? And thus build a bridge from the past to the present? Archive producer and GRAP board member Monika Preischl and two other filmmakers will talk about this with moderator and archive expert Elizabeth Klinck in the Archival Filmmaking Workshop Talk “Remediating Memories”. Monika Preischl will give an exclusive insight into her current production “Riefenstahl”, which consists of 100 per cent archive material.

The Archive Market 2024 will take place from 11:00 am at the Documentation Centre Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation near the Martin-Gropius-Bau.
